Crafting Tranquil Retreat: Minthis Hills by Woods Bagot

Nestled in the picturesque hillside setting of Tsada Village in Paphos, Cyprus, Minthis Hills stands as a testament to resort-style hospitality architecture. Developed in collaboration with Cypriot developer Pafilia, Woods Bagot’s London studio spearheaded the project, delivering master planning, architecture, interior design, and branding services. The result is a unique retreat-style experience that seamlessly blends local antiquity with premium amenities.

Resort Development

The development encompasses a new village center and villa community in Tsada, featuring an extensive upgrade of an existing golf course and a 16th-century monastery built in the Byzantine tradition. Additionally, the project includes the creation of 44 residential villas, a contemporary clubhouse, a wellness spa complete with a pool, and a vibrant village heart comprising restaurants, bars, and retail stores.

Architectural Inspiration

Drawing inspiration from the traditional Cypriot vernacular of the ‘mountain village,’ the villas at Minthis Hills feature pitched roofs, cypress timber, terracotta, and locally sourced limestone. Each villa is thoughtfully planned around a central courtyard, allowing for ample shade and natural ventilation. The village square, known as ‘Palatia,’ serves as the focal point—a modern interpretation of the traditional Cypriot village square, surrounded by art galleries, boutiques, a wine cellar, and authentic eateries.

Wellness Spa Experience

At the heart of Minthis Hills lies a wellness spa spanning 2,400 square meters. Integrating essential oils and aromatherapy from indigenous herbs and plants found on the estate, the spa offers a range of treatments, including hydrotherapy, yoga, and various therapeutic and beauty applications. Each timber-clad treatment room features an indoor massage area and an outdoor foot massage zone, surrounded by citrus, pomegranate, or fig trees, infusing the space with rejuvenating scents symbolizing rebirth.

Conclusion

Minthis Hills by Woods Bagot epitomizes the fusion of luxury and tranquility, offering guests a sanctuary to escape the hustle and bustle of everyday life. With its homage to local heritage and commitment to sustainable design, Minthis Hills sets a new standard for hospitality architecture in Cyprus, inviting visitors to experience serenity amidst breathtaking natural beauty.
