Skatepark Zadar Integrating Recreation with Nature
Masterplan Overview
The Skatepark in Zadar is an integral part of the larger activity park “Novi Bokanjac.” The master plan for this area emphasizes creating a serene environment that minimizes its impact on the existing natural surroundings. Designed to cater to diverse age groups, fitness levels, and recreational interests, the project aims to meet the varied needs of the community. The phased development, including all necessary facilities, aligns with current requirements and investor opportunities, with the skatepark serving as the initial phase of the recreation zone’s development.
Harmonizing with Nature
Despite the functional necessity of using smooth concrete for the skatepark’s surfaces, every effort has been made to integrate it harmoniously with the surrounding nature. The oval shape of the skatepark not only preserves the towering pine trees but also facilitates rainwater runoff, directing it back into nature along the outer edges defined by local crushed stones. Furthermore, new trees and greenery will be planted along the road, creating a green belt between the skatepark and traffic, enhancing the park’s natural ambiance.
Functional Design
The skatepark’s layout and features are strategically designed to promote inclusivity among different age groups and skill levels. Divided into three distinct zones, the park offers flexibility for independent use or seamless integration. Users can transition from the open bowl area to the street area, connected through a transition hip, and further into a zone featuring a combination of flow and street elements. This thoughtful design ensures an uninterrupted and “endless” flow for skaters of all levels, enhancing the overall user experience.
