Embracing Community: Luxelakes Tianfu Food Island Phase II

Luxelakes Tianfu Food Island Phase II, designed by Atelier Sizhou, stands as a testament to thoughtful urban planning and community engagement. Situated in Chengdu Shi, China, this sprawling complex spans an area of 6000 square meters and serves as a vibrant hub for restaurants, bars, retail, and community activities.

Architects and Lead Designers

Led by architects Xianshu Jin and Jia Liu, Atelier Sizhou meticulously crafted the design concept for Luxelakes Tianfu Food Island Phase II. Their vision was to seamlessly integrate the built environment with the surrounding natural landscape, creating a dynamic and inviting space for both residents and visitors alike.

Enhancing Public Access

One of the key challenges in the project was balancing commercial viability with public accessibility. Rather than clustering all buildings along the lakefront, the architects opted for a layout that prioritized public space. By positioning the buildings towards the rear of the site, a vast expanse of lakeside area was preserved for public enjoyment, fostering a sense of inclusivity and community engagement.

Maximizing Lakefront Potential

The strategic placement of the buildings allowed for expansive outdoor areas facing the lake, providing ample opportunities for businesses to showcase their offerings. These outdoor spaces, adorned with cascading landscapes and innovative architectural elements, serve as dynamic platforms for social interaction and leisure activities.

Fostering Exploration

Inside the buildings, the architects created intimate spaces under the eaves, encouraging exploration and discovery. These tucked-away corners not only add to the building’s allure but also provide opportunities for small businesses to thrive within the vibrant lakeside environment.

Harmonizing Form and Function

In terms of architectural form, the design team opted for sloping roofs and distinct eaves, imbuing each building with a unique identity while maintaining overall unity. This deliberate choice reflects the project’s ethos of community-centric design, emphasizing collaboration and diversity.

Creating a Lakeside Community

Luxelakes Tianfu Food Island Phase II is more than just a commercial complex—it is a testament to the power of community and shared spaces. By reimagining the lakefront as a public asset and embracing a collaborative design approach, Atelier Sizhou has succeeded in creating a warm, inviting, and lively lakeside atmosphere that celebrates the rich heritage and spirit of Chengdu Shi, China.
