Introduction

In the heart of Montevideo’s Cordón neighborhood, Estudio ALVMTR and Estudio MNG collaborated on the renovation of an old tenement apartment into the INQ Digital Academy. This contemporary space serves as a flexible hub for a Digital Dentistry academy, offering a blend of modernity and adaptability.

Project Overview

The INQ Digital Academy expands the existing clinic in the complex, providing a venue for academic meetings, workshops, and courses. The architects aimed to create a multifunctional environment capable of accommodating various activities while maintaining a cohesive design.

Centralized Design

At the core of the apartment lies a central triple-height space illuminated by a skylight, serving as the primary source of light and ventilation for three separate rooms, a bathroom, and a kitchenette. Emphasizing the importance of an open and adaptable layout, the architects opted for dematerialization to allow for seamless transformations.

Flexible Spaces

To maximize versatility, the architects implemented a system of pivoting panels that can divide the space to suit different needs. One room transforms into a dental office, while the other two seamlessly merge with the central area, serving as a conference room, classroom, coworking space, or a comfortable lounge.

Conclusion

The INQ Digital Academy stands as a testament to innovative design and functional adaptability. By repurposing an old apartment into a modern educational space, Estudio ALVMTR and Estudio MNG have created a dynamic environment conducive to learning, collaboration, and creativity.
